No news is good news on 49ers 2nd practice report of divisional round

The San Francisco 49ers only had a small bit of news in their Wednesday practice participation report ahead of Saturday’s divisional playoff matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. That counts as good news for a team as ravaged by injury as San Francisco.

That small bit of news was positive, but it is a significant deal for the 49ers. Left tackle Trent Williams was upgraded to a full participant in practice after being limited in Tuesday’s session. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury that appears to have not gotten worse after the 37-year-old played through the ailment in the wild card round. All signs point toward Williams playing against Seattle after missing the regular season finale with that injury.

That was the only change to the 49ers’ participation report. Thursday’s session will end with the official injury report where we’ll get status updates for Saturday evening.

Here’s the Wednesday practice report:

Did not participate

  • S Ji’Ayir Brown (hamstring)
  • LB Luke Gifford (quadricep)

Limited participation

  • DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)
  • WR Ricky Pearsall (knee)
  • RG Dominick Puni (ankle)
  • LB Fred Warner (ankle)
  • DE Keion White (groin, hamstring)
  • LB Dee Winters (ankle)

Full participation

  • WR Jacob Cowing (hamstring)
  • LT Trent Williams (hamstring)
