Dart has the potential to become a standout quarterback in the league. The dual-threat star possesses the arm strength and athleticism to put up big numbers in 2026 while leading the Giants to an NFC East title and a serious playoff run. The key question is what he needs to refine most in order to take that next step.
ESPN’s Ben Solak recently slammed Dart’s consistency—particularly his mechanics when scrambling out of the pocket—stands as the area of his game that, if improved, could unlock a much more productive season in 2026.
Dart is an extremely frustrating watch. He has very little consistency to his process as a thrower and a pocket manager. His feet are frequently disconnected from the ground, which affects the timing of his throws and delays his reaction to pressure. His lower-body mechanics change willy-nilly, and he often looks like a kid alone on a basketball court attempting pretend buzzer-beaters, lurching to launch from odd angles for no apparent reason.
I’m confident there’s a quality starting QB somewhere in Dart’s game, but it’ll take quite a bit of development to get him there.
Dart does tend to become undisciplined with his legs when scrambling out of the pocket. His decision-making also leads him to absorb more contact than necessary when striving for first downs. Should he run with greater crispness next season, however, he has the potential to emerge as one of the most productive dual-threat quarterbacks in the league.
