ITTA BENA, Miss. – Prairie View A&M will not go undefeated in conference play.

The Panthers blew a 17-point lead in the second half en route to losing 28-27 to Mississippi Valley State on Saturday afternoon at Rice-Totten Stadium.

The Delta Devils (2-4, 1-1 SWAC) outscored the Panthers (2-4, 2-1) by a 21-3 margin in the second half to end a three-game losing streak in the rivalry.

Josh Brown’s 35-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Brownlow and Luka Sari’s point-after kick with 2:11 left in the fourth quarter gave MVSU its only lead of the game.

On the ensuing drive, Prairie View was stopped on fourth-and-2 when Tevin Carter’s quarterback keeper was stuffed. The Delta Devils than ran the clock down and Prairie View’s couldn’t get a pass off on the final play from near midfield, with Carter getting sacked by Javieane Stevens.

Prairie View jumped out to a 24-0 lead in the second quarter and led 24-7 at halftime. Carter ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw a TD pass to Rodny Ojo to help the Panthers take a seemingly commanding lead.
