Las Vegas Wedding Tourism Sees Arizona Lead Utah, California and Hawaii in New US Rankings

Arizona joins Utah and California as top US states driving Las Vegas wedding tourism in 2025, according to new research by ACE Casino. Arizona leads with 48.7 marriage licences per 100,000 adults, while California records the highest total, highlighting strong interstate demand for destination weddings in Nevada’s entertainment capital.

Las Vegas wedding tourism sees Arizona lead Utah, California and Hawaii in new US rankings, highlighting the city’s appeal among couples planning destination weddings. New research from ACE Casino reveals how neighbouring states dominate marriage licence applications, while distant destinations such as Alaska and Hawaii also contribute to Nevada’s wedding market.

Arizona Leads US States for Las Vegas Wedding Travel

Las Vegas continues to attract couples seeking destination weddings, with Arizona emerging as the leading US state for marriage licences issued in Clark County when adjusted for adult population.

A new study conducted by ACE Casino examined marriage licences issued by the Clark County Clerk during 2025, identifying the home states of couples choosing to marry in the Las Vegas area.

The research found that Arizona recorded 48.7 marriage licences per 100,000 adults, followed by Utah with 43.3 and California with 36.0.

Although California ranked third on a population-adjusted basis, it generated the largest number of marriage licences among the states included in the study, with 11,212 issued during the year.

The findings highlight the continued importance of domestic travel to Las Vegas and the role of weddings in supporting accommodation, hospitality, entertainment and visitor spending.

The research compared the number of marriage licences issued to couples from each state against its adult population. Nevada was excluded to focus on out-of-state demand.

2 Utah 1,132 43.3

Arizona and Utah Benefit from Proximity to Nevada

Arizona’s position at the top of the ranking reflects strong demand for Las Vegas marriage licences among residents of neighbouring states.

Couples listing Arizona addresses received 2,933 marriage licences in 2025, representing 48.7 per 100,000 adults.

Utah followed with 1,132 licences and a rate of 43.3 per 100,000 adults.

Geographical proximity provides a practical advantage for couples travelling from these states. Las Vegas is accessible through regional road networks and domestic air connections, making shorter wedding trips possible.

For couples considering a ceremony outside their home state, convenient transport and a wide selection of accommodation can simplify travel arrangements.

However, the figures establish where applicants came from rather than their individual reasons for choosing Las Vegas.

California Generates the Largest Wedding Licence Volume

California stands out for the scale of its contribution to the Las Vegas wedding market.

The state accounted for 11,212 marriage licences during 2025, substantially exceeding the totals recorded by Arizona and Utah.

Its population-adjusted rate of 36.0 licences per 100,000 adults placed it third nationally.

California’s large population and established travel connections with southern Nevada provide an important potential customer base for wedding-related businesses.

Couples travelling from California may combine their ceremony with hotel stays, restaurant visits, live entertainment and other leisure activities.

These additional experiences demonstrate how destination weddings can create opportunities for tourism businesses beyond the ceremony itself.

“Las Vegas continues to demonstrate how destination weddings can connect tourism, hospitality and memorable personal experiences. The latest findings highlight the remarkable appeal of the city among American couples, particularly those travelling from Arizona, Utah and California.

What makes Las Vegas distinctive is its ability to accommodate different wedding preferences, from intimate ceremonies to elaborate celebrations supported by world-class hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues. The inclusion of Alaska and Hawaii among the leading states also illustrates how wedding tourism can inspire travel across considerable distances. For the wider tourism industry, these patterns underline the importance of accessible travel connections, flexible wedding packages and personalised visitor experiences.

As couples increasingly consider how to combine meaningful celebrations with enjoyable holidays, destinations offering convenience, variety and memorable experiences are well positioned to attract interest. Las Vegas provides a compelling example of how weddings can contribute to a destination’s broader visitor economy.”— Anup Kumar Keshan, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Travel And Tour World

New Mexico, Washington and Wyoming Enter the Top Six

New Mexico ranked fourth, recording 539 marriage licences and a rate of 32.0 per 100,000 adults.

Washington completed the top five with 1,634 licences, equivalent to 25.7 per 100,000 adults.

Although Washington generated more licences than Utah, its larger adult population resulted in a lower position.

Wyoming followed closely with 25.6 licences per 100,000 adults, despite recording only 118 licences.

The comparison demonstrates why population-adjusted figures are useful when assessing the relative popularity of Las Vegas weddings across states with significantly different populations.

North Dakota placed seventh with 155 licences and a rate of 25.1, considerably ahead of neighbouring South Dakota, which recorded 11.5.

Alaska and Hawaii Highlight Wider Domestic Wedding Travel

The inclusion of Alaska and Hawaii among the leading states illustrates that Las Vegas wedding demand extends well beyond the American Southwest.

Alaska ranked eighth, with 141 licences and a rate of 24.9 per 100,000 adults.

Hawaii completed the top 10 with 257 licences, representing 22.3 per 100,000 adults.

Both states require substantial travel arrangements for couples visiting Las Vegas, particularly Hawaii, where air travel is essential.

Their inclusion suggests that geographical distance does not prevent some couples from choosing Nevada for their wedding celebrations.

Idaho also featured prominently, ranking ninth with 370 licences and a rate of 23.8.

For the tourism industry, these findings underline the value of marketing destination weddings to audiences beyond nearby states.

Wedding Tourism Creates Opportunities for Las Vegas Hospitality

Las Vegas offers an established wedding industry supported by chapels, hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues and specialist ceremony providers.

Its appeal extends across different wedding formats, including intimate ceremonies, themed celebrations and larger gatherings involving friends and relatives.

Wedding visitors can also incorporate dining, nightlife, sightseeing and entertainment into their itineraries.

For hotels and tourism operators, this creates opportunities to develop packages combining accommodation, ceremonies and leisure experiences.

The ACE Casino study measures marriage licence activity rather than total wedding tourism expenditure, so it cannot establish the precise economic contribution of these visitors.

Nevertheless, the distribution of licences provides useful insight into the domestic markets supplying demand.

Planning Remains Important for Destination Weddings

ACE Casino has encouraged couples considering weddings away from home to establish their priorities before making reservations.

The company highlighted the importance of deciding whether a small ceremony or a larger gathering best suits their expectations and budget.

Couples should also examine what their wedding packages include, particularly photography, transport, accommodation and additional ceremony services.

Those inviting guests from other states should allow sufficient time for travel arrangements and hotel reservations.

Applicants should verify current marriage licence requirements directly with the Clark County Clerk before travelling.

Las Vegas Maintains Its Appeal Among US Wedding Travellers

The findings reinforce Las Vegas’s established position as a destination for couples seeking wedding experiences outside their home states.

Arizona, Utah and California dominate the population-adjusted rankings, while California delivers the largest number of licences.

Meanwhile, Alaska and Hawaii demonstrate the city’s ability to attract applicants from geographically distant markets.

For tourism businesses, the results offer a clearer understanding of the domestic audiences contributing to Las Vegas’s wedding sector and the opportunities associated with destination celebrations.

Las Vegas remains an important destination for American wedding travellers, with Arizona leading population-adjusted marriage licence rankings and California generating the highest application volume. Strong participation from neighbouring states, alongside Alaska and Hawaii, highlights the city’s nationwide appeal and continued opportunities for hotels, wedding venues and tourism businesses.

Las Vegas continues to attract wedding travellers from across the United States, with Arizona, Utah and California leading the rankings. The findings highlight the importance of domestic wedding tourism, creating opportunities for hotels, wedding venues, restaurants and entertainment providers while reinforcing Nevada’s reputation as a popular destination for memorable celebrations.
