The Cincinnati Bengals received a visit from Vice President JD Vance at practice on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Vance, an Ohio native, has been a longtime fan of the Bengals and stopped by for a surprise visit after several events in the area. The vice president was seen getting a tour of the facility and later greeted the team.
Quarterback Joe Burrow was asked after practice if he had a chance to interact with Vance during his visit.
“We did not,” Burrow told reporters. “He came with everybody and left with swiftness and efficiency before the end of practice, so I didn’t get to.”
When asked what his reaction was, Burrow elected to speak about how his job brings people together.
“A lot of people around,” Burrow said. “That’s what I love about what I do is it brings a lot of people together. And people want to take time out of their day to come and watch what we do, and watch what I do and watch all the work that I put in to come and watch greatness. Everybody in the locker room that’s why we do what we do.”
Burrow said he wasn’t aware that Vance would be in attendance and was told by the team’s owner, Mike Brown, on the sideline about the vice president’s presence.
The Bengals are back to work after having a bye in Week 6. Cincinnati is trying to get on a roll after losing two of its last three games ahead of the bye.
Despite the 3-2 record, Burrow’s Bengals are last in the AFC North, with a key road matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7.
