They plan to open this new route in June, and it adds a new hub for the airline in the Middle East. This new route will create connections to AirAsia X’s services at London’s Gatwick Airport and will also create connections to the airline’s Airbus A330 operations. For over a decade, the airline’s long-haul routes to Gatwick and Stansted airports in London were suspended because of the airline’s retirement of A340 aircraft. With this new route, the airline will be operating flights from London to Kuala Lumpur, and will be offering services to Bahrain, and London, Gatwick, from Kuala Lumpur, direct.
