While the Houston Texans won’t be headed to the Super Bowl, that doesn’t mean that several former players who once called NRG Stadium home won’t be suiting up one more time this season with a Lombardi Trophy on the line.
Prized 2024 offseason acquisition Stefon Diggs will head to Santa Clara one year after being the hopeful missing piece to elevating C.J. Stroud and the Texans’ offense to a Super Bowl-caliber unit. Instead, he was limited to eight games with a torn ACL, totaling 47 catches for 497 yards and three touchdowns.
A year later, after signing a three-year deal to become the new top weapon for second-year quarterback Drake Maye, Diggs totaled 85 catches for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns.
While Diggs is the top name going to Super Bowl 60 from his time in Houston, he’s not alone. Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Josh Jones spent the 2023 season in Houston as a rotational option at tackle. He spent this season as a swing tackle, starting the final three games of the regular season.
Three other names with limited reps in both Houston and on their current teams are off Levi Stadium. Tight end Eric Saubert and running back Cam Akers will represent Seattle, while cornerback Alex Austin will play for the Patriots.
