The first tournament of the Egypt Golf Series 2026 kicks off this Monday, January 19, as part of the MENA Golf Tour, a premier developmental circuit for professional golf. The opening event will be held at the renowned New Giza Golf Club from January 19 to 21.This event marks the beginning of an intensive four-week swing in Egypt, organized through a strategic partnership between the MENA Golf Tour and the Egyptian Golf Federation.
The MENA Tour features a total prize pool of approximately $400,000, with $100,000 contested at each tournament. In addition to the purse, competitors will earn Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points at every event. The series kicks off at the New Giza Golf Club; designed by Thomson, Perrett & Lobb, its world-class layout provides the perfect backdrop to launch the Egypt swing.

The tour continues across Egypt’s most prestigious venues:
Second Tournament: January 24–26 | Address MarassiGolf Resort (Mediterranean Coast)
Third Tournament: January 29–31 | Address MarassiGolf Resort
The Grand Finale (Fourth & Final Tournament): February 3–5 | Madinaty Golf Club, Cairo
The series concludes at Madinaty Golf Club, a premier destination distinguished as the top-ranked golf course in both Egypt and Africa.
International and Local Participation
The MENA Tour at New Giza boasts a diverse field of over 100 international competitors.The stakes could not be higher as the battle for MENA Golf Tour Rankings supremacy intensifies.
Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo (currently 2nd in rankings) is aiming to close the gap on the leader, former Ryder Cup star Chris Wood. While Chris Wood is the rankings leader, he will not compete in the opening Cairo event at New Giza but is confirmed to return for the second and third events at Marassi.
Leading contenders and top-five players to watch include Scotland’s Aidan O’Hagan and Sebastian Sandin, and Wales’s Toby Hunt. They are joined by Austria’s Aron Zemmer. The lineup features seasoned DP World Tour veterans, including Spain’s Alejandro Cañizares and England’s Ashley Chesters, alongside the consistently impressive Jordan Wrisdale.
Egypt will be well-represented by a blend of professional experience and amateur talent. The local charge is led by professionals Ahmed Morgan and Nour Shibl, supported by a promising group of amateurs Issa Abou El Ela, Mohamed Abou El Ela, Abdelmonem El Shafei and Adam Elshamy.

Mr. Omar Hisham Talaat, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, emphasized the importance of the series:
