Feb. 10—ROSEAU, Minn. — Roseau senior forward Jasmine Hovda has been recognized as one of the 10 best girls hockey players in Minnesota.
Hovda was named a semifinalist for the 2026 Ms. Hockey award on Monday. She led the Rams with 66 points, recording 45 goals and 21 assists in 27 games this season.
Five finalists will be unveiled this weekend by Let’s Play Hockey. The winner will be announced at the Ms. Hockey banquet on Feb. 22.
The competition is stiff. Every nominee is committed to play Division I hockey, and they’ve combined for 424 total points this year.
Hovda is committed to St. Cloud State. She also previously participated in the U18 Team USA Development Camp.
Hovda’s 45 goals are currently tied for second-most in the state and are the most in Class AA.
Hovda is no stranger to accolades. She is a three-time All-Section selection, three-time Team MVP and earned a spot on the All-State team last year.
Hovda reached career highs in goals and points this season. She previously eclipsed 60 total points in the 2023-24 season, collecting 26 goals and 38 assists.
Last year, Hovda scored 18 goals and logged 28 assists in 27 games.
Hovda surpassed 200 career points earlier this season and ended her career with 241.
Hovda helped Roseau to a 15-11-1 overall record this year.
The Rams went 5-4-1 in Section 8AA play, and they entered a stacked section tournament with the No. 4 seed.
Roseau opened with a 5-2 win over fifth-seeded Brainerd in the quarterfinals before suffering a 7-1 loss to top-seeded Bemidji in the semifinals.
The Ms. Hockey Award is an annual honor given to Minnesota’s top senior girls high school hockey player.
Established in 1997, the award considers on-ice performance, academics, extracurricular activities, citizenship and coachability, according to Let’s Play Hockey.
Potential candidates are provided by their coaches. The semifinalists, finalists and winner are chosen by a panel of high school coaches and a panel of Division I and III college women’s coaches from Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Grand Rapids/Greenway’s Mercury Bischoff was named Ms. Hockey in 2025. She led the state in goals and points, collecting 58 and 86, respectively.
Five previous Ms. Hockey winners have gone on to represent Team USA in the Winter Olympics.
Gigi Marvin, Dani Cameranesi and Hannah Brandt all helped Team USA win gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
