The Union of Myanmar Travel Association has announced its plans to conduct a digital marketing training course to enhance the use of modern digital marketing technologies in Myanmar’s tourism sector. Supported by the regional government, this training will help tourism professionals promote tourist destinations using digital platforms and thereby attract international visitors for the industry’s overall growth.
That is why a coordination meeting was held on 6 January 2026 between UMTA and the Department of Hotels and Tourism of Yangon Region regarding outlining the details of the program for its smooth implementation. The meeting discussed that, in the modern concept, digital marketing has to be much more emphasized to reach out not only to customers but also to promote the destination sites.

The association also plays a key role in fostering stronger cooperation with ASEAN countries and international tourism institutions, aiming to bring Myanmar’s tourism offerings to a wider audience.
By incorporating digital marketing into the tourism sector, UMTA seeks to improve the visibility of Myanmar’s tourist destinations on the global stage, positioning the country as an attractive destination for travelers from around the world. This training course is an essential part of UMTA’s broader strategy to integrate digital innovation into Myanmar’s tourism development.
A Step Toward a Digital Future for Myanmar’s Tourism
The digital marketing training course is just one example of how UMTA is working to bring Myanmar’s tourism industry into the digital era. With the global rise of online travel and e-commerce, it is crucial for Myanmar to adapt and embrace these changes. The course will equip local tourism businesses with the necessary tools and knowledge to thrive in the digital age, setting the stage for continued success in the future.
