Created by Rodrigo Izquierdo Studio, the renovation brings a renewed interpretation of the hotel’s legacy through a combination of Portuguese craftsmanship, premium materials and elegant residential-inspired interiors. Taking inspiration from the hotel’s architectural character, including the modernist influence introduced by Portuguese architect Porfírio Pardal Monteiro in 1955, the redesigned accommodations establish a seamless connection between historic identity and modern luxury.

The redesigned interiors showcase the hotel’s signature “Lisbon Flair” palette, featuring soft blue shades inspired by the city’s traditional azulejo tiles, calming green tones reflecting the gardens and trees along Avenida da Liberdade, and warm terracotta hues mirroring Lisbon’s iconic rooftops. Throughout the Rooms, Suites and corridors, carefully selected materials such as natural stone, solid wood, brass, iron, bespoke furniture and curated artworks create a refined atmosphere that captures the elegance, warmth and unique character of Lisbon.
The centrepiece of the renovation is the transformation of the Suites, which have been designed as sophisticated urban residences offering a more personalised and immersive luxury experience. With tailored services, upgraded amenities and interiors that reflect a strong connection to the destination, the Suites provide guests with an exclusive sense of comfort and place. The redesigned Rooms follow the same design philosophy, introducing elegant private spaces where contemporary comfort meets understated luxury, ensuring a consistent experience across all accommodation categories.
The renewed guest spaces also celebrate Tivoli Avenida Liberdade’s deep connection with Portuguese culture and artistic heritage. Decorative details throughout the property introduce subtle references to Lisbon’s history, including a contemporary textile artwork inspired by Sintra, the famous tapestry created by Mily Possoz for the Portalegre Tapestry Manufacture. Carpets featuring patterns influenced by the hotel’s façade and gold decorative elements inspired by the original 1930s room keys create a sophisticated link between the past and present.
The interiors are further enhanced by carefully selected ceramics, decorative pieces and artworks from Portuguese creators, adding a strong local identity to the spaces. Bathrooms feature premium amenities from Portuguese brand Claus Porto in the refreshing Citron Verbena fragrance, bringing an additional sensory element that reflects the freshness and energy of a Lisbon morning.
The hotel’s renowned dining destination, Cervejaria Liberdade, has also undergone a transformation while maintaining its historic charm. The restaurant continues to preserve its classic Portuguese character while introducing a more contemporary and elegant atmosphere. Set beneath high ceilings with views overlooking Avenida da Liberdade, the venue offers traditional Portuguese flavours with a modern approach.
Under the direction of Chef Miguel Silva, Cervejaria Liberdade focuses on seasonal ingredients from Portugal’s coastline and countryside. The menu celebrates fresh seafood, fish and regional specialities, combining the heritage of a traditional Lisbon cervejaria with a refined dining experience for modern travellers seeking authentic Portuguese cuisine.
Adding another luxury experience, the hotel has recently introduced the 1933 Wine & Spirits Collection by Cellar 47, a premium wine destination located on the ninth floor.
