Timothee Chalamet looked every bit the long-suffering Knicks fan after New York survived Game 2 and moved within two wins of an NBA title.
The Knicks edged the Spurs 105-104 in San Antonio to take a 2-0 Finals lead, sending the series back to Madison Square Garden with the city close to basketball delirium.
For a fan base waiting since 1973, Chalamet’s reaction captured the mood better than any polished courtside photo could.
Timothee Chalamet captures Knicks joy after Game 2 escape
Chalamet was caught on camera celebrating the win with a message that sounded more like a fan outside the arena than a Hollywood star.
“Two more to go, two more to go… Let’s go, baby. Let’s go, Knicks.”
His connection to the team goes back years. Resurfaced 2010 proof showed a teenage Chalamet winning Knicks tickets by answering trivia from Landry Fields and Andy Rautins, long before he became a celebrity-row regular.
He was not alone in San Antonio. Ben Stiller, Fat Joe, Billy Baldwin, Spike Lee, Walt Frazier, Allan Houston, Chris Tucker, and James Goldstein were all part of the Game 2 scene, while Stiller was seen filming warmups.
The result made it even bigger. New York has not hosted an NBA Finals game since 1999, and now the Knicks are two wins from ending a 53-year drought.
Knicks can turn celebrity buzz into championship history
The 2-0 lead gives New York a huge advantage, but Game 2 also showed why the series is not finished.
The Knicks nearly wasted a double-digit fourth-quarter lead before Jalen Brunson’s late steal and free throw helped seal the one-point win. Karl-Anthony Towns had 21 points and 13 rebounds, while Mikal Bridges added 20.
Game 3 should be a cultural event as much as a basketball game. Chalamet, Spike Lee, Ben Stiller, President Donald Trump, and New York mayor Zohran Mamdani are among the major names expected at MSG.
The Spurs still have Victor Wembanyama, who scored 29 in Game 2 and missed a potential winner at the buzzer. But the Knicks have control, home court, and a crowd that has waited half a century for this.
If New York finishes the job, Chalamet’s “two more” clip will age like a perfect snapshot of the night Knicks fans truly started to believe.
