The Egyptian Golf Federation will host 20 international tournaments in 2026 as part of a campaign to promote sports tourism and support the national economy, the federation’s president said.
Omar Hisham Talaat stated that the schedule comprises 11 tournaments in the first half of the year and nine in the second half. The competitions fall under the “Egypt Golf Series,” an initiative launched by the federation at the beginning of the year.
The federation is executing a plan to enhance the country’s position on the global golf tourism map. Omar Hisham Talaat noted that hosting these major events aims to attract players and foreign delegations, while promoting Egyptian tourist destinations through international media coverage.
Omar Hisham Talaat cited the recent Asian Development Tour tournament, hosted by Madinaty Golf Club, as an important milestone in this plan. He said the event featured international participation with players representing more than 30 nationalities, which serves to place Egypt on the global sports tourism map.
Outlining the upcoming schedule, Omar Hisham Talaat said Egypt will host the Arab Junior and Youth Championship, which is expected to see broad regional participation, followed by the Arab Senior Championship.
The agenda also includes the return of the MENA Golf Tour to Egypt with two tournaments. Additionally, the Egypt International Open for Professionals will be held for the second consecutive time following a 15-year absence.
The 2026 schedule will conclude with the Egypt International Junior and Ladies Championship, alongside the Egypt International Men’s Championship. Omar Hisham Talaat stated that these events are intended to strengthen Egypt’s international presence and support the federation’s efforts to market the country as a destination for golf tourism.
